Health and Wellness Assessed and Chiropractic WINS:

A retrospective assessment of network care using a survey of self rated health, wellness and quality of life.

  • This was the largest study ever conducted in the history of the Chiropractic profession (2,818 patients and over 150 offices in 4 countries).
  • Longest time period evaluated from 1 month to 3 years
  • The benefits of chiropractic care were revealed as early as 1 month after beginning care.
  • There was no indication of maximum clinical benefit.
  • There were no plateaus in patients' progress.
  • They continued to show improvements in their quality of life.

Maintenance Care WINS:

Health promotion services administered to US Chiropractic patients aged 65 and older, part II.

  • Patients 65 and older who received maintenance Chiropractic care for 5 years or longer were studied.
  • These Chiropractic patients, under maintenance care, spent only 31% of national average on health care services.
  • They had 50% reduction in medical provider visits.
  • They had better health habits, such as less use of cigarettes and prescription drugs.
  • 95.8% if these patients believed care to be either considerably or extremely valuable.

Over 40 studies documented objective health benefits in subjects who are described as being asymptomatic or free from injury . Statistically significant improvements in:

  • Ranges of motion
  • Heart rates

DNA Repair: A Chiropractic Success:

A study revealed that serum thiol levels (a measure of DNA repair activity) were highest in the group of patients with 1-6 years of Chiropractic care!

In a British study, which was a follow-up to the Meade study, noted: “Chiropractic patient's most dramatic improvements were associated not only with pain reduction , but with many of the factors that contribute to the quality of life, such as

  • Sitting more comfortable
  • Sleeping better
  • Lifting
  • Walking
  • Standing
  • Sex life
  • Social life
  • Ability to travel

In a study done in 1997, patients under Chiropractic care noted significant improvements in:

  • Physical health
  • Mental/emotional health
  • Feeling less stress in their lives
  • More life enjoyment

These benefits came as early as 1-3 months under care and showed continuing improvement as long as patients stayed under care with no indication of a maximum clinical benefit.

In another study of patients under care for 5 months, improvements were reported in their:

  • Physical health
  • Mental/emotional health
  • Overall wellness

As with other studies, improvement continued with continued care. In other words, there appeared to be no end to the benefits of Chiropractic care .

A study published in JMPT in Jan. 2000, revealed that patients under maintenance Chiropractic care had:

  • Reduced nervousness
  • Reduced symptoms of depression
  • Had 50% less visits to medical providers
  • Appeared to replace medical management rather than be complimentary to medical treatment
  • The need for hospitalization and the high costs associated with that service were markedly reduced
  • Perceived the maintenance services as highly beneficial to prevention and health promotion.

A study of men and women 75 years and older revealed that those visiting chiropractors had:

  • Better overall health and a higher quality of life
  • Fewer chronic conditions
  • Fewer days spent in nursing homes and hospitals
  • More mobile in their community
  • Less likely to use prescription drugs than non-Chiropractic patients
  • 87% of Chiropractic patients described their health as “ excellent ” compared to just 67.8% of non-Chiropractic patients.
